Last week, Andrew Richard Designs held its Twitter-trending Annual Industry Night – an event revered as one of the must-attend parties of Toronto’s design calendar – to kick off the summer season. Andrew Bockner, is an entertaining master – both indoors and out – with a soaring event business that throws the most fabulous, entertaining, and luxe events, known to be frequented by international celebrities and Toronto society alike. This year, the Atrium and Loft spaces were transformed into a retro-chic youthful escape, where sweet lemonade turned hard, fries became frites and plastic patio chairs transformed into luxurious lounges.
Here are three themed-party takeaways from this year’s bash:
“Make concise, delicious food and drink choices to enhance the theme of your party!” describes Andrew. “Research authentic offerings and stick to those genuine sources for inspiration, while remembering to think about ways to keep them appetizer sized and easy to manage.” At ARD, we sampled fresh cotton candy, hard lemonade, cake pops, hot dogs, pulled pork AND ice cream sandwiches. Talk about childhood memories, minus the sticky fingers.
Engage your guests with music, dancing and games for a lively, memory-making experience. The ARD experts recommend using lighting that progressively to help set the tone of the evening as the party continues through the night. Well-planned music playlists and live acts (from STOMP performances to BELLOSOUND live DJs) help the celebrations continue interruption-free.
3. Guest List
The crowd can make the night! Andrew recommends “sending your invitations to like-minded guests that will have things to talk about.” His network of interior designers, architects and events professionals made for interesting connections and discussion all night long. And don’t forget to ask your A-list to spread the word about the good vibes. Social media chatter is great for driving hype around the evening and theme. #StayFoolish!
